Banquet Servers

Behind the scenes of all successful events, are those people who are usually the least noticed, but the most important – the banquet servers.  The reason they are not very noticeable is because it is their job to get the task done without interfering with your guests.

Banquet servers are those who help seat guests, serve drinks, food, coffee, etc. all without drawing attention to themselves.  Most people who attend catered functions don’t realize how difficult it is to get a job done without getting in peoples way.  This is a job that is usually one by students because most large functions are held in the evenings and on week-ends and it leaves daytime hours to go to school.

For those banquet servers who are good at what they do, this can be a very lucrative way to make money on a part-time basis.  In some cases, they get tips and they can also get known by the guests at the event and get other positions offered to them in the future.

Good banquet servers have experience handling food trays in a room full of people without incidents.  Their attitudes should be such that they take pleasure in serving others with little attention brought upon themselves.  They need to pay attention to detail so that they know when the guest needs something without being told.  Thinking quickly is always a great attribute because there is always a lot going on during a banquet or event, so getting distracted is not an option.

The usual attributes one would like in all employees go double for banquet servers.  Reliability and a proactive approach to work, as well as being able to work with little supervision are on the top of the list.

So, if you are planning an event in the near future, make sure you surround yourself with the best people you can.  Your event will run smoother and more successfully than you can wish for.
