Costa Rica

Costa Rica, located in Central America, ranks as the greenest country in the world.  It enjoys the most consistent political stability of its fellow Latin American nations.  It borders on Nicaragua and Panama.  Because it is located near the Equator, the climate is tropical year round.  Costa Rica’s seasons are defined by its rainfall.  Therefore the year is split into two periods, the dry season and the rainy season.

25% of this country’s land is national park and protected areas.  That is the largest percentage in the world.  Around 800 species of birds call Costa Rica home.  The country’s primary language is Spanish.

Arenal is the capital of Costa Rica.  This location is filled with explosive views of the volcano which erupts an average of 22 times per day.  While near the volcano, be sure to soak your weary muscles in one of the heated hot springs and take in the breathless views of the lava flow.  You can also swim in the chilly pools located at its base.
While hiking through its national park and private reserves, encounters with wildlife are very common.  Don’t forget its picturesque native flora and fauna.  A Costa Rica adventure tour via horseback, mountain bike or in a safari float, will offer panoramic views of the various suspension bridges and dense jungles.  Keep in mind that if you are hoping for cloudless evenings, you will probably need to stay at least 1 week.

Arenal also boasts botanical gardens just 3 miles east of La Fortuna.  This private reserve has 2500 species of tropical plants, a serpentario and butterfly garden.  There are other reserves near La Fortuna that can be visited where red-eyed tree frogs and other nocturnal creatures may be spotted.  La Fortuna Waterfall is also one of the most popular attractions in Costa Rica.

When thinking of booking a vacation, whether you are looking for a relaxing vacation soaking up the sun or filled with tours, Costa Rica is definitely a great spot to contemplate.
