Stop Repossession

Unable to make the payments on your car or home?  About to default on your loan?  You must certainly have received overdue payment notices from your creditors.  You are in fear of having your car or home Repossessed and you are trying to figure out how to stop repossession.

First of all – do not ignore the notices from your lender.  Contact them immediately.  Your bank or mortgage broker is not interested in owning your home.  They have options to help you through your difficulties.  They would prefer to help you stop repossession than lose money trying to see your home to cover your loan.

Check your loan documents so you know what your lender has the right to do if you can’t make your payments.  Get all the information you can on repossession or foreclosure laws in your area.  Counseling services are also available, free of charge, to provide you with the information and assistance you need to stop repossession.  This housing counselor can help you from the time you receive your first letter or phone call from your lender.  Only if you take your lender’s phone calls, can the counselor help you stop repossession.  Right up until the 3d month, when you can still make arrangements to work something out with your lender to stop repossession, can the counselor help you.

Another alternative is to contact a real estate investment company.  They may be able to help you, but this method does not come without a cost.  Make sure you weigh the pros and cons of going this route.  They may be in a position to you stop repossession, but it may not be the best option for you.

The most important thing to remember is to stay in contact with your lender and get help as soon as you can.  That seems to be the way to stop repossession.
